Lethe’ and Eunoia’ in the Divine Comedy

Dante’ encountered the rivers Lethe’ and Eunoia’ at the top of mount Purgatory in his book The Divine Comedy. The river Lethe’ helped him lose memory of all his sins and the river Eunoia’ allowed him to remember all the good he had done in his lifetimes.

I wish we too could each drink from these rivers every morning to re-set our lives. So we could forgive and forget the shame, guilt and self-hate as we drink from Lethe’ and remember all the good we are and have done for ourselves and others as we drink from Eunoia’.

In simple terms, appreciate the compassion (spirit) and let be the hate/fear (ego) that we are.
