Sameer Dewji was born in Arusha, Tanzania. He moved to Calgary, Canada in 2006 with the support of his family to build a better life. Sameer was inspired to become a Safari tour operator in order to support conservation through tourism and show the world the real beauty of Africa, including the vast culture and people.
Sameer attended SAIT and obtained a Diploma in hospitality management (class of 2011) and a certificate in carpentry. After graduating Sameer worked in the hospitality industry for many years in different segments of the market. These included customer service, event organization and eventually became a business owner of Karibu café and Deli, Sam also worked as a managing partner in the entertainment segment (Mango Tree Entertainment).
Since 2016, Sameer has been running his own business, he is the owner and managing director of Bellr Safaris headquartered in Calgary, AB. Sam and his team meet with customers, share their experiences of safaris in Africa and plan trips for interested customers. They organize private guided tours and promote local encounters with the people of Tanzania. Sam accompanies groups on tours as well as manages the company.
Sam has volunteered for over 9 years with the World Partnership Walk to reduce poverty. Among his honors and Awards, Sam received the “Man of Movember”, Movember Canada in 2013 and 2014 for the funds he raised for the Movember foundation.
Sam is interested in sports, he was part of the “Ismaili Soccer team” representing Canada in the “Global games” in 2016 where he won the golden prize. Other interest include travel, hiking, photography, video editing, and recently Sam has started to publish videos on YouTube.
